20 Most Cringeworthy Moments In The New Star Trek Movies

16. Kirk's Allergic Reaction From Star Trek

The set-up of this one is almost as embarrassing as the supposed "payoff": in order to sneak Kirk on board the Enterprise, McCoy must inject him with the cure for a particular sickness in order to give him the symptoms of said sickness. Then he tells the Starfleet concierge or whatever-he-is that as Kirk's attending physician, McCoy must bring him aboard. Doctor referrals apparently did not survive the post-atomic horror, then. But wait, kids, it gets even wackier - or simply more whack, in this case. Kirk awakens to find that his hands have swollen to hilarious size and that his tongue is going numb. This happens just as he must go find Lieutenant Uhura during her shift at Budweiser (more about that later) to tell her something vitally important to the plot. And, really, it's a major plot point, so of course that's the perfect moment for slapstick. Chris Pine must've loved sitting in the makeup chair for hours to pull this comedic gem off. We didn't love it, though.
