20 Easter Eggs From Spider-Man: No Way Home You May Have Missed

9. Ned Leeds - Future Sorcerer Or Future Hobgoblin?

Ned takes much more of an active role in No Way Home, turning from 'the guy in the chair' to someone on the frontlines of the battle to save Earth's reality.

We finally get confirmation of Ned's last name, Leeds, which makes sense as Ned Leeds has long been part of Spider-Man's comic lore.

However...

The Ned of the comics stumbled across some of Norman Osborn's old Green Goblin gear, began using it, and for quite a while became the Hobgoblin, a more demonic version of the Green Goblin who eventually became a huge pain to Spider-Man.

Ned also displays an aptitude for magic in the movie, being able to summon portals much more quickly than Dr Strange ever could, reflecting, perhaps, his youth, enthusiasm, and true need to help his friend. Does this magical skill, combined with glimpses of weapons on the wall of Ned's home and a shot of a sewing machine working on green fabric, foreshadow a villainous turn for Ned?

Hopefully not, as Spider-Maguire shared with the gang the story of how his best friend went crazy, became a supervillain, tried to kill him, and then died in his arms. Ned is understandably alarmed, looking woefully at 'his' Peter and hoping he isn't in for the same fate.

Ned deserves better.
