Film: Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire

The Weird Sisters are an extremely popular band in the wizarding world who Dumbledore booked to perform at the 1994 Yule Ball at Hogwarts €“ the old fella knew how to give the people what they want. The name of the band is originally inspired by the witches in Shakespeare€™s Macbeth but the interest surrounding the pop group who gave the world "Do the Hippogriff", "Magic Works" and "This Is the Night" certainly doesn€™t stop here.

In the film the name €˜The Weird Sisters€™ was removed from the script because of a legal dispute with the Canadian folk band the Wyrd Sisters. Instead they are just introduced as €œthe band that needs no introduction€. Crafty stuff.

Originally Franz Ferdinand were booked to portray the band but when they dropped out they were replaced by Johnny Greenwood and Phil Selway of Radiohead and Jarvis Cocker and Steve Mackey of Pulp. This would have come as welcome news for Daniel Radcliffe who is an ardent fan of Radiohead.
