Nearly-Headless Nick always took a liking to Harry and in the second film this manifests itself in his inviting the young wizard to his Deathday party, celebrating the 500th anniversary of his demise in 1492. As if the thought of commemorating the day you died wasn€™t wacky enough, the party itself includes a candlelit dinner of rancid food and music from a diabolical Ghost orchestra. The presentation of the Deathday party isn€™t just used to explore more wonders of the wiarding world in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets though.

The year of Nick€™s death, 1492, will immediately reverberate in the ears of any historian as this is the year that Chrisopher Columbus made his famous journey across the Atlantic to discover the so-called New World. It is a deliberate reference to the namesake of the director of the first two Harry Potter films, Chris Columbus.
