20 Easter Eggs You Somehow Missed In Quantum Of Solace
9. He's Branched Off!
On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) is another of those Bond films that divides opinion. Despised at the time of its release, it has since come to be respected as one of the best Bond films ever made.
In that film, George Lazenby's James Bond believes that he has finally defeated Telly Savalas's Ernst Stavro Blofeld when he forces Blofeld up into the branches of a tree overhanging a Swiss bobsleigh run.
However, Bond's victory is short-lived: Blofeld and his lieutenant, Irma Bunt (Ilse Steppat) drive past Bond's Aston Martin DBS on a Portuguese cliffside road and open fire on it with a machine gun, killing Bond's wife, Tracy (Diana Rigg), but failing to kill the-then former Double-0 Seven. Blofeld is seen driving the getaway car, wearing a movement-infringing neck brace after his previous encounter with Bond.
Around halfway through Quantum of Solace, Anatole Taubman's Elvis tries to pursue James Bond and Camille at Greene's party in La Paz, Bolivia, but is tripped down a flight of stairs by British consulate operative, Strawberry Fields.
When viewers later see him at Greene's luxurious desert hotel, Perla de las Dunas, Elvis arrives wearing a black neck brace, clearly needing to take it easy after his run-in with Fields. He may not be the head of SPECTRE, but it is the visual reference that counts!
