20 Famous Movie Tattoos (And What They Actually Mean)
19. Dude, Where's My Car? (2000)
Role: Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott as Jesse and Chester
The detail, artistry and symbolism of the tattoos on Jesse and Chester isnt what makes them memorable. They are just large, unadorned words; one reading 'dude' and the other 'sweet'. Up until they had to get changed in front of each other, the protagonists of Dude, Where's My Car? had no idea they had drunkenly had their backs inked with these nonsensical words, somehow oblivious to the burning pain of a fresh tattoo.
Chaos ensues when the two knuckleheads have to explain to each other what the others tattoo says. "What does mine say?" "Dude, what about mine?" "Sweet, what about mine?". The two are stuck in an asinine loop, getting gradually more frustrated at the other until the stores owner explains what their tattoos say.
Most people would be horrified to realise that they had idiotically marked their body permanently while under the influence. It is typical of the dim-witted yet-loveable duo that rather than despairing, they find the whole thing highly amusing.
The film may have been panned by most critics, but this tattoo skit is both amusing and memorable.
