20 Fantastic Blimps, Balloons, And Dirigibles In Movies
5. A View To A Kill (1985)
One of the reasons it was strange to see a balloon in a James Bond movie in 1999’s The World is Not Enough is because Bond had already battled an airship in this film, and it’s a hard one to top.
When a platinum-haired Christopher Walken kidnaps Bond girl Tanya Roberts in his airship, Roger Moore’s Bond has no choice but to jump onto (yet another) dangling rope and be whisked into the sky above the Golden Gate Bridge.
Because the airship passes so close to the bridge, Bond takes the opportunity to tie the rope to the bridge, preventing escape. This leads to an axe fight atop the Golden Gate Bridge (how could it not?), with Walken falling to his death in the water and a poorly handled stick of dynamite vanquishing the airship in a ball of flames.
