With the sweeping scales of beautiful Austrian landscapes, The Sound of Music does take you in. It has been a classic movie musical for decades now. If you watched it during your childhood years, chances are you fell in love with and it’s stuck with you ever since. And it’s not hard to see why. Each song is a total earworm and the majority of them have made their place within American culture. Who doesn’t know “My Favourite Things”?

The Von Trapp family are utterly delightful, having the most joyous of times as they sing together and go on outdoor adventures. Julie Andrews already left her mark as the character Mary Poppins one year prior so naturally, she would carry the character of Maria with sheer whimsy and magic. It’s a movie which fills your heart with the bliss of music and leaves you wishing you were part of the Von Trapp family.
