20 Feel Good Movies You Need To Watch Now
1. Booksmart (2019)
Described as the female version of Superbad, Booksmart may have somewhat fallen under the radar in 2019 because of more hyped films but it’s still right up there amongst the best teen movies. Booksmart is a joyous watch as it follows the friendship of Molly and Amy – a pair which any two best friends can relate to because of the organic chemistry between Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein. The plot oversees them make the most of their young and free days before truly going into the big wide world.
The high school setting used is exaggerated but, in this instance, it works to the film’s advantage by boasting a strong ensemble of class students - each with a distinctive personality to them and gives the film that much needed unique energy. It’s a brilliant directional debut by Olivia Wilde thanks to its sharp dialogue and resonant themes. Despite its disappointing performance at the box office, Booksmart is already being rediscovered by cinephiles for its fun story and in a few years’ time will become a coming-of-age classic.
If you’re looking for something brand new to feel good about, your go to is Booksmart.
