Currently one of the most closely-observed directors on the internet, as well as one of the most divisively-received. Zack Snyder made his early career as an television advertisement director, and a pretty prolific one at that. He made his feature-film debut in 2004, with a surprisingly successful remake of George A. Romeros Dawn of the Dead. He gained a lot more attention with his stylish breakout hit 300, adapted from the work of graphic novelist Frank Miller. Afterward Snyder went on to direct Watchmen, yet another graphic novel adaptation. Though it received polarizing critical reception upon its release, Watchmen has ascended to a sort of cult status among some circles. In 2013, Warner Bros. released Zack Snyders Man of Steel, a reboot for the Superman franchise. Like Watchmen, Man of Steel was greeted rather divisively. It was, however, a financial success. This year will see the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the intended follow-up to Man of Steel and Warner Bros. launching pad for a new slate of comic book movies. There's a lot riding on the success of this one movie. Will Batman v Superman surpass our expectations, or will it buckle under the pressure? Either way, it all lies on the shoulders of Zack Snyder.
