Rarely in cinematic history has a franchise been more doomed than Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot. Trank's erratic behaviour led to him being removed from the production, forcing the editor, Steven Rivkin, to finish the film.

Even though Fant4stic's disastrous production was public knowledge, Trank still maintained everything was going to plan just before its release. He even teased that the sequel was already underway, with the Silver Surfer and Namor the Submariner set to serve as the villains.

But after Fant4stic received a disastrous reception, no one wanted to go near the franchise. With Disney acquiring the rights for the superhero quartet in 2019, Trank's sequel was clobbered out of existence.
