20 Film Franchises That Were Cancelled After One Movie

6. Jumper

Flash Gordon
20th Century Fox

Jumper centres around a young man called David who discovers he can teleport. Using his newfound powers to live a life of luxury, David soon discovers he's being hunted by a relentless killer.

Based on Stephen Gould's novel of the same name, director Doug Liman thought there was enough material to turn the story in a trilogy. In the other potential films, Liman wanted to explore the idea that Jumpers could teleport to other worlds or even travel through time. Rachel Bilson's character, Millie, would return and join David in his adventures after discovering she too is a teleporter.

Even though the film did reasonably well at the box office (despite starring Hayden Christensen), its reviews were less than favourable, causing the studio to pull the plug on the second and third movie.
