20 Films That Prove The 1990s Was The Worst Decade For Horror

One horror franchise which did prove a real success in the 1990s was Tales From The Crypt, the TV adaptation of the beloved EC Comics line from the 1950s. Given the format went down so well on the small screen, it's hardly surprising they decided to try it on the big screen too, with a Tales From The Crypt cinematic trilogy originally planned.

However, while things got off to a reasonable start with 1995's Demon Knight, the 1996 follow-up Bordello of Blood brought things to a screeching halt. And there's a very good reason for this: it's absolutely terrible. As we've seen, comedy and horror can prove a tricky balance, and this film from director Gilbert Adler completely fails to achieve it.

While there's an undeniable trashy appeal to the core concept of a brothel run by vampires (obviously not too far removed from the following year's From Dusk Till Dawn), and Angie Everhart makes for an enticing vampire queen, the movie is never anywhere near as funny or sexy as it thinks it is - and it barely even seems to make any attempts at being scary at all.

Worst of all, stand-up comedian Dennis Miller is horrendously miscast in the lead as the private detective who never stops breaking out the wisecracks, despite the fact that none of them are amusing in the least.

Which other terrible horror films from the '90s belong on this list.
