20 Films To Watch If You Love Halloween But Hate Horror

11. Scary Movie (2000)

Scary Movie
Dimension Films

Ask any cinema enthusiast what their guilty pleasure film is and they'll most likely have Scary Movie as one of their top picks. Being a spoof of the 90s slasher film revival (in particular parodying Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer), Scary Movie is entirely aware of how bad it is and is not afraid to wear that crappiness on its sleeve.

The reason why it’s become so (deservedly) popular is because of the unashamedly crude comedy which we all can’t help chuckling at. It’s refreshing to see a satirical film that doesn’t feel restrained by political correctness. Sure, the humour is not for everyone and the storyline is vapid, but most us get a laugh from Brenda’s non-stop talking at the movies, Cindy farting in the bath or the classic "WASSUP" line.

Don't be fooled by the title, this early noughties popcorn flick is anything but a scary movie.
