Now this one is kind of crazy, and will truly make you understand quite how smart the multi-layered jokes and references in Ghostbusters are. Early versions of the script were stuffed with all sorts of more out-there supernatural stuff, owing to Dan Aykroyd's own interest in the occult, spiritualism and the like. Which apparently involves some made theological skills. So at the beginning, when they go to investigate the haunting of New York Public Library, they interrogate the poor old woman who reportedly saw the ghost. They ask whether anyone in her family had ever had any history of mental illness and she replies she had an uncle who thought he was St Jerome good joke, even more so when you realise St Jerome is the patron saint of librarians.
Tom Baker is the Comics Editor at WhatCulture! He's heard all the Doctor Who jokes, but not many about Randall and Hopkirk. He also blogs at http://communibearsilostate.wordpress.com/
