20 Greatest Dance Scenes In Movie History
18. You Should Be Dancing - Saturday Night Fever (1977)
Saturday Night Fever is an example of a movie’s soundtrack being better than the movie itself. The actual storyline is nothing to write home about but viewers were won over by the joyous Bee Gees songs and the timely disco dancing.
An adult teenager, Tony Manero, gets away from his anxieties by attending underground disco, where he is the absolute king of the dance. At the discotheque, he meets Stephanie Mangono and attempts to romance her, though she resists.
Amongst this tepid storyline, we are given moments of glory through electrifying dance performances which overall helped to popularise disco in real life. And one particular sequence which stands out is Tony’s smooth moves to the number ‘You Should Be Dancing’, where a whole crowd clears the floor in adoration of his slick dance skills.
