20 Greatest Dance Scenes In Movie History

16. Too Darn Hot - Kiss Me Kate (1953)

Ann Miller is one of the most underrated actresses of the old Hollywood era. Every dance performance she ever did always overflowed with personality, energy and flair. It’s just shocking how her work in film was never nominated for an Oscar award.

There’s a lot of Miller’s performances which could have made the list, including the “Shakin’ the Blues away” number from Easter Parade (1948), where she danced the entire sequence with a back brace, or the "Prehistoric Man" from On the Town (1949) where she outshone Gene Kelly.

But pipping it to the post is her sensual Too Darn Hot performance in Kiss Me Kate. A very racy sequence for its time, Ann steals the show with her carefree routine and magnifying tap skills (although it is disappointing how the camera work constantly misses her foot work).

The actual movie itself is rather outdated but people often come back to this one because Miller is able to salvage it with her cheeky, exuberant skills.
