20 Greatest Ending Lines in Film History

3. Fight Club

"You met me at a very strange time in my life..." Fight Club is another in the elite group of films that have both killer opening and closing lines. And on a day when Edward Norton redefined the meaning of understatement, we stood in awe and watched. A strange time in your life? Seriously? That's how you want to describe that one time when you developed an undiagnosed multiple personality disorder, accidentally created a violent, militant organization, and committed the kind of domestic terrorism that would make Timothy McVeigh go white and reach for his smelling salts? That said, it is a surreally beautiful way to end the film, with him and Marla holding hands, staring out the window as buildings begin to fall. Dark, to be sure, but kind of uplifting in a weird way, as Tyler Durden has finally been put to rest.
