20 Greatest Insults in Film History

7. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

"I don't want to talk to you no more, you empty-headed animal food trough wiper! I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries!" - French Soldier
To be totally honest, this one almost didn't make the list based on the sheer fact that annoying people will not stop quoting it in a horrible faux-French accent. You're not funny or special for having seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail, so stop trying to seem like you've got your finger on the pulse of the comedy scene or something. But that's not really fair to Monty Python, is it? Because John Cleese's totally out of nowhere hostility to Arthur, King of the Britons, is legitimately hilarious. Arthur happens upon this castle and is actually pretty polite when speaking to the guards, especially considering the fact that he is a king and is sort of used to people doing whatever he wants to them to do. But John Cleese's guard is deliberately antagonistic to Arthur in the most absurd way, bellowing bizarre insults from the top of a tower and provoking them to attack the castle, at which time he begins launching animals over the castle walls as some sort of defense. It's just so weird and such an extreme reaction to the situation, and John Cleese totally commits to the bit.
