20 Greatest Movie Psychos Of All Time

6. Frank Booth - Blue Velvet (1986)

01.04.2013frank 5 Dennis Hopper's portrayal of the sadistic, psychopath Frank Booth effectively restarted his career. He was that convincing. While investigating a severed ear and its possible connection to singer Dorothy Vallens, Jeffrey ends up snooping in her apartment. She catches him and thinks this is sexy. They are interrupted mid-fellatio by Frank. Huffing gas of some sort, profusely swearing Frank engages in sadomasochism and dry humping with Dorothy. Frank is a brutal sociopath who has kidnapped Dorothy's husband and child to extort sexual favours from her. Jeffrey and Dorothy conduct an affair until Frank catches them in flagrante delicto. Jeffrey punches him but Frank gets his men to beat Jeffrey up. He then molests Dorothy. Despite this, Jeffrey continues to keep up his amateur sleuthing. After Dorothy turns up following a particularly savage beating, Jeffrey goes to Dorothy's apartment and finds her husband dead from a shot in the head. There follows a shoot out but all ends well as Dorothy is reunited with her son. Frank Booth has gained cult status as a particularly profane psychopath dropping eff bombs all over the show. He has been both widely parodied and paid tribute to in the cultural realm.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
