20 Highest Grossing Movies of 2014 - Ranked From Worst To Best
12. Noah
Darren Aronofsky's long-gestating passion project saw the director finally getting a chance at working with a blockbuster budget, and to the surprise of no one the result was markedly different from the average big-budget studio movie. While Noah has turned out to be one of the year's more divisive titles, Aronofsky's visually stunning epic is without a doubt one of the most interesting and ambitious blockbusters in years. Rumours of creative differences behind the scenes plagued the production, but Noah is undoubtedly Aronofsky's vision; with help from a talented cast led by Russell Crowe's best performance in a decade, the director puts a new spin on an old tale with a movie that provides stunning visuals and huge set-pieces against the backdrop of a family melodrama, but also throws in some existentialism and giant rock monsters for good measure.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
