Chart Position: 20th Worldwide Gross: $326,479,141 Still inexplicably clinging onto the top 20 is the third (read: worst) instalment of the Taken franchise, released way back in January 15. What started out as a cult B-movie has turned into an action cinema behemoth, making Liam Neeson an action star in the process. If the first Taken film is pretty great, and the second one pretty standard, then the third is just plain bad. By killing off Famke Janssens Lenore within the first five minutes, Taken 3 effectively disavows the whole franchise, and from there its the series run-of-the-mill barrage of Brian Mills (Neeson) beatings in amongst an endless array of camera sweeps and swooshes. The action here is nowhere as smooth as in the original, though, and the footage has been chopped into bit after bit of incomprehensible fisticuffs. Adding Forest Whitaker to the series is a nice touch, but it cant save this flash-cut fiasco of a film. No more, please.
