20 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2016 - Ranked Worst To Best

15. The Secret Life Of Pets

Suicide Squad
Illumination

Box Office: $875.3 million (#5)

Illumination Entertainment's surprise smash hit is a passable but ultimately disappointingly forgettable animated romp that makes only intermittently good use of a great voice cast, especially Louis C.K., Kevin Hart and Jenny Slate.

Exploring what pets get up to when their humans aren't looking is a great hook for a movie, but the material here is mostly uninspired and the characters aren't fleshed out with the sort of personality you'd expect to see at Disney or Pixar.

Certainly not a torturous sit, just not as interesting as you want it to be, and the animation doesn't do nearly enough to dazzle.
