20 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2017 - Ranked Worst To Best

7. Wonder Woman

Box Office: $821.8 million (#9)

What a pleasant surprise this was in every way, right? It wouldn't have surprised many if Wonder Woman pulled a modest $500-600 million worldwide amid mixed reviews, but that was effectively a fate reserved for Justice League instead, while Wonder Woman soared past it both critically and commercially.

Director Patty Jenkins did a mostly fantastic job bringing the titular superhero to life (bar some excessive slow-motion), aided entirely by Gal Gadot's riveting performance and excellent support from Chris Pine as Steve Trevor.

Finding a firm balance between character development and action (at least until the disappointing third act finale), Wonder Woman is the injection of hope the DCEU sorely needed, and by far the series' best-executed entry to date.

It's embarrassing that it took Hollywood this long to make a genuinely good female-led superhero film, but hopefully it'll open the floodgates for many more in the coming years.
