20 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2017 - Ranked Worst To Best

15. Kong: Skull Island

Kong Skull Island Kong
Warner Bros.

Box Office: $566.7 million (#15)

Kong: Skull Island is a textbook example of a generic, simplistic, CGI-laced blockbuster that just barely did enough to succeed with both critics and casual audiences.

Though it thoroughly wastes the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, John Goodman and Samuel L. Jackson, there's a hearty helping of mindless action for audiences to snack on, and a John C. Reilly performance that's far more entertaining than the rest of the film really deserves.

Not much more than a stop-gap for the upcoming 2020 Godzilla vs. Kong movie, it does enough to re-establish the title character with audiences, but it really should've been so much better with all this talented involved.
