In Drew Hancock's dark comedy, Iris heads to a retreat with her boyfriend, Josh, anxious about meeting his friends for the first time.

When Iris fatally stabs one of their friends, Sergey, Josh shuts her down, revealing she's a robot. Believing a glitch caused her to use lethal force against Sergey, Iris runs away, knowing Josh will erase her memory if he catches her.

Even though Josh behaves coldly towards Iris at times, you understand where he's coming from, since he obviously doesn't want her to go full Terminator. But over time, it comes to light that Josh programmed Iris to dispose of Sergey, so he and his friends could steal $12 million from his safe.

Josh seemed like a sweetheart in the opening when he first met Iris, but this is later revealed to be a programmed memory in Iris' data bank. Although Josh was originally painted as a loveable guy, he's a master manipulator. His friends are the scum of the earth, but even they reach a point where they refuse to go along with Josh's scheme, reinforcing just what a POS he is.
