5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Release Date: August 8th It's hard not to scowl a little at the very idea of Michael Bay taking another beloved childhood property and "reinventing" it for new audiences, but like it or not, it is the super-producer who is behind the latest attempt to turn the Turtles into a going cinematic concern. This time, director Jonathan Liebesman (whose CV implies he is the least qualified man on the planet to make a good movie) will oversee the action comedy vehicle for the heroes in a half-shell, who face off against old foe Shredder (William Fichtner), under the guidance of Splinter (Tony Shalhoub) and with April O'Neil (Megan Fox) in tow. Let's be honest, it's going to be awful. The Selling Point: Like a car crash, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pricks that rubber-necking part of the brain that suspects it will be a disaster. But at least Vanilla Ice probably won't be in this one. The Concerns: The casting, the new design of the turtles, the influence of Michael Bay, the injuries to our childhoods...
