A sequel to The Shining was always going to be a difficult sell for some fans, because that adaptation is heralded as one of the best movies of all time even if King wasn't all that bothered about it himself. Luckily, he wrote a sequel himself in 2013 and made it possible for Warner Bros to fast-track an adaptation.

Excitingly, director Mike Flanagan, who helmed Absentia, Oculus, Before I Wake, Ouija: Origin of Evil and Gerald's Game is in and he's got a hugely talented cast with him, with Ewan McGregor playing the grown-up Danny and Rebecca Ferguson playing fellow "shiner" Rose the Hat.

It's coming in 2020 and it has the potential to be the best thing on this list.
