The Role: In Lundgren's own words, "Basically, one of the characters is going to defect to the Soviet Union because he loves Communism...Thats Channing Tatums character in the movie, and they wanted someone to play a submarine commander. I guess they wanted someone kind of iconic where the audience sees the person and says, Holy s***!" So Im wearing a Russian fur hat and Im on this huge submarine in Malibu." Why It's Unexpected: Um, because who the hell ever thought they'd see the star of recent classics such as One in the Chamber and Puncture Wounds end up in an epic Coen Brothers movie? It just doesn't fit at all. Will It Work?: Most likely. Lundgren is much smarter than most people give him credit for on the basis of his filmography (he has a Masters degree in chemical engineering), and the Coens are masters at working with ensembles. Nothing to be worried about here.
