20 Most Iconic Gangster Movie Moments

7. Death Of A Monster - Casino (1995)

Often overlooked for that other Scorsese Gangster flick, Casino is an epic tale of love and crime in the seedy American playground that is Las Vegas. With an incredible main pair in De Niro and Pesci, Scorsese directed the two with the panache and skill that we expected and already saw before this. We are also treated with James Woods and Sharon Stone for ample backup. Iconic Moment: Second only to The Wolf of Wall Street, this is Scorsese's longest film to date. Throughout it's running time one thing becomes abundantly clear; Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci) is walking a very fine line throughout. The horrific death of Nicky and his beloved brother is one that will stick with you for a very long time. Coming towards the very end of the film, your surprise that he has lasted so long will be far outweighed by the sheer ferocity and violent nature that he is dispatched from it. He may have had it coming throughout, but nobody needs to go out via baseball bats and being buried alive. It is by far the grimmest of all ends seen in any Gangster film.
