20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In The Dark Knight Saga

5. Bane Forgets To Station A Single Guard At The Pit To Stop Bruce Escaping - The Dark Knight Rises

After laying waste to Batman in the Gotham sewers, the next part of Bane's plan in The Dark Knight Rises has our hero shipped off to some remote part of the world, where he's confined to "The Pit." Here, Bane intends for Bruce Wayne to live out the rest of his days in relative horror; the pit, constructed like a well, has one escape route - prisoners are welcomed to try and climb out, but the feat is near impossible to accomplish. The theory is that the hope associated with seeing the exit in plain view is enough to drive the pit's inhabitants near insane. Battered and bruised, the likelihood of Bruce Wayne escaping the pit are thin, then... though what Bane fails to remember is that, fundamentally, Bruce Wayne - injured as he is - is still Batman. He was trained by the League of Shadows, and if anybody is gonna escape from the pit, then he's your man. And after many months of torment, Bruce does exactly that. Now, given who he was dealing with, Bane really should have spared a single henchmen to watch over the pit in case Bruce escaped. You know, with a huge semi-automatic at the ready.
