20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In The Dark Knight Saga

19. Ra's Al Ghul Waits Until The Very Last Moment To Tell Bruce About His Evil Plan - Batman Begins

The ultimate goal of the League of Shadows in Batman Begins is to burn Gotham to the ground - the muddy thinking in this scenario is that Gotham will be able to start afresh from the bottom up once it has been destroyed and reduced to ashes... but never mind that. To complete this task, Ra's enlists Bruce Wayne into his organisation; he trains him, teaches him to battle his demons, and helps him to become a relative badass. As mentors go, Ra's is pretty awesome; firm but fair, he leads Bruce onto the path of becoming somebody. It's implied, then, that Ra's al Ghul is a pretty smart guy - and yet, for some reason, over the span of many years, whilst training Bruce as his equal, he never once engages his student in a conversation about Gotham City and what it might mean to the man who was actually born there if it was wiped from the Earth. Seriously: Ra's waits until the final day of training to bring up the whole "we want to destroy Gotham" thing, apparently oblivious to the fact that everything that means anything to Bruce is right there. Why didn't they, you know, discuss this before?
