20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In The Dark Knight Saga

17. Ra's Al Ghul Risks Everything By Leaving Bruce Wayne Alive For Literally No Reason - Batman Begins

After leaving the League of Shadows because they tried to get him to tear down his home town, Bruce Wayne betrays his former master, Ra's Al Ghul (not before saving his life), returns to Gotham and becomes Batman. Eventually his former master - now pretty darn peeved - catches up with his student at his mansion years later, and sets about trying to finish that whole tearing down Gotham thing. After confronting Bruce and monologuing about his plan for a while, Ra's manages to knock Bruce under a flaming beam, and knocks him unconscious. At this point, anybody with even a single brain cell in their body would have made sure Bruce was dead - there's an incredibly complex plan at work at this very moment, and Bruce is literally the only person in the WORLD who might be able to stop it. And yet Ghul recalls that the last time they were together Bruce left him in a similar position: "You burned my house and left me for dead. Consider us even." Ghul has no reason to keep Bruce alive; he needs him dead. Had he murdered him, then, his plan would have gone off without a hitch. So dumb.
