20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In Quentin Tarantino Movies

9. Max Doesn't Leave With Jackie (Jackie Brown)

There aren't many likeable character in Jackie Brown, though easily the most unambiguously admirable is bondsman Max Cherry, who shows a clear attraction to Jackie from the first time they meet, and ultimately becomes her accomplice when she attempts to rip off Ordell. After almost being killed by Ordell (but being saved by Michael Keaton's cop Ray Nicolet), Max is told that Jackie, who got away with all the money, is leaving for Spain, and she even invites Max to come along with her. Max is clearly tempted, though declines, enjoying the stability of his normal life and fearing the possible repercussions that might await Jackie. Clearly disappointed, Jackie and Max kiss passionately before his phone rings and Jackie quietly leaves. It's a rare tender, bittersweet moment in a Tarantino movie, and one that had most guys shouting at their TVs, "Dude, go with her!" Despite his sweetness, Max doesn't exactly strike us as a guy with a rocking social life or a crowd of women queuing up to hang out with him, so why not go on an adventure? More to the point, Pam Grier is a stone-cold hottie!
