20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In Quentin Tarantino Movies
20. Bill Doesn't Confirm The Bride's Death (Kill Bill Volume 1)
Kill Bill memorably opens with a black and white sequence in which The Bride (Uma Thurman) and her wedding party have been brutally slain by Bill (David Carradine) and the remainder of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad. As Bill talks to her, she tells him that the baby she's carrying is his, but before she can even fully finish her sentence, she's shot in the head, and as the blood splashes onto the wooden floor, we cut to black. This didn't kill The Bride, though, and she's left comatose for a whole four years before waking up. Wouldn't it have made sense to at least fire a few more rounds into The Bride's head before leaving, you know, just to be safe? Or maybe just kill her in hospital? A member of the Squad, Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah), plots to do that with a lethal injection just before she wakes up, though Bill insists not to do anything unless she wakes up. Doesn't that seem incredibly stupid? Why not deal with the problem when she's unconscious and easy to do away with? Why wait for her to realise what's happened and go into full-on bada** mode? With this action, and his inability to take care of The Bride in that four-year period, he signed his own death warrant, and those of his colleagues.
