20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In Quentin Tarantino Movies

2. Mr. White Becomes Friends With Mr. Orange (Reservoir Dogs)

The most interesting relationship in Reservoir Dogs is between Mr. Orange (Tim Roth) and Mr. White, who are clearly shown to have become close friends over the course of the heist, to the point that Mr. White has even broken the rule of telling Mr. Orange his real name and hometown. This intersects directly with the various discussions had about the possibility of a set-up, that one of the men had a line to the cops, and after Mr. Blonde tortures Nash, a heavily wounded Mr. Orange shoots Mr. Blonde, revealing himself to be the cop. When the others return to the warehouse, Mr. Orange is accused of being a police informant, while Mr. White steps in to defend him. This leads to a tense standoff at the end of the movie, as Joe prepares to kill Mr. Orange, and Mr. White pulls his gun, unshakably confident that Mr. Orange isn't an informant. In the resulting shootout, Mr. White kills Joe and Nice Guy Eddie (Chris Penn), while Mr. White is shot and Mr. Orange is further wounded. Mr. White then holds Mr. Orange in his arms, as he confesses that, indeed, he is an undercover cop. Mr. White, dejected and betrayed, points his gun at Mr. Orange, just as the police storm in, and it appears that White kills Orange, just before the police kill White. Simply, Mr. White let his emotions get in the way of what should have been a clinical, detached heist, and in the end, it caused the deaths of a number of people, including himself. As they say, feelings get you killed...
