20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Marvel Film Characters
3. Asgard Allowing The Collector To Take The Aether (Thor: The Dark World)
In the mid-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World, the mysterious Collector meets with Volstagg and Sif in order to obtain the Aether, which had been deemed too dangerous for Asgard to possess in such close proximity to its fellow Infinity Stone, the Tesseract. The Asgardian pair hand over the powerful relic to the intergalactic antique hunter, seemingly without any major concerns, and this will undoubtedly prove to be a stupid decision. The Collector himself immediately stated "one down, five to go" - suggesting that he wanted the entire collection of Infinity Stones for himself, making the handing over of the Aether a bad move in itself - but the fact that Asgard now has absolutely no control over who else might want to get hold of it (we're looking at you, Thanos) means that it was a truly stupid thing to do.
