20 Incredible Facts You Didn't Know About 2020's Biggest Movies
9. It Was Made For Just $7 Million - The Invisible Man
Looking at Leigh Whannell's reboot of The Invisible Man, you'd be forgiven for assuming that the gorgeously shot film cost around $20-30 million.
But Whannell, an impressively frugal filmmaker whose low-budget origins on the Saw franchise have trained him to make every penny count, produced the film for a mere $7 million.
Despite the presence of the brilliant Elisabeth Moss and a number of visually ambitious set-pieces, Whannell is an expert at making the most of his low budgets, and so there was never any chance that the film wouldn't make a killing at the box office.
Ultimately, even with a pandemic closing cinemas mere weeks after its release, The Invisible Man soared to a stonking $142.8 million worldwide, equating to more than 20x its budget.
Unsurprisingly, Universal quickly scooped Whannell up to helm both a sequel to the movie and a reboot of The Wolf Man starring Ryan Gosling. Bring it on.
