20 More Incredibly Satisfying Moments In Movie History

14. "I'm Spartacus" - Spartacus

Just as the ever heroic Spartacus is about to stand and declare himself, a fellow slave stands in his place and bellows the words 'I'm Spartacus'. Another man crops up and shouts the same thing, then another and another . Cut to a silent Spartacus who is stone-faced and shedding a single, solitary tear, a moment that will well up even the hardest man. Every good actor can do this trick - 'The single tear shed'. Most people, whilst crying, are reduced to incoherent, bubbling wrecks; unable to breath or string a sentence together, but really, that wouldn't have worked in Spartacus.

13. "You Can't Handle The Truth" - A Few Good Men

Honesty is a theme that runs through all of Aaron Sorkin's work, with his characters saying things aloud that we wouldn't dream of saying. Even in a bountiful field, there is no stronger example of this than in his early written work and in particular, his play-come-film A Few Good Men, directed by Hollywood heavyweight Rob Reiner. Tackling a subject that is based on honour (the military), Sorkin wrote one line in his script that will go down in history as one of the great quotes in cinema. Daniel Kaffey (Tom Cruise) struggles to find the words to cross examine a stone wall Col. Nathan R. Jessup (Jack Nicholson) and pin the blame on him for using the chain of command to murder a fellow officer, rather than his largely innocent and circumstantial defendants. After a constant struggle, Kaffey finally uses evidence to break down Jessup's barrier after answering the question 'what do you want from me?' with 'the truth...' only to have Jessup scream 'You can't handle the truth', followed in turn by the long and drawn out confession itself.
