20 Marvel Characters Who Must Be Introduced In Phase 3

10. Doctor Octopus

There are a lot of great Spider-Man villains Marvel could utilise for their upcoming reboot, many of whom have yet to receive the big screen treatment. However, as much as I'd like to see Tom Holland's Peter Parker squaring off with Scorpion or The Shocker, Doctor Octopus has the potential to be a great foe for the wall-crawler, something Spider-Man 2 proved way back in 2004. However, the fun thing about Doc Ock is that his background could very easily be tied into the Iron Man franchise; would it not make sense to have him be a former Stark Industries employee? That wouldn't be too different to the Ultimate version of the character who worked for Oscorp, and would actually go some way in explaining rumours about Tony Stark making a cameo appearance in Spider-Man. To differentiate this version of Doctor Octopus from Alfred Molina's, Marvel could go down the route of making him an overweight egomaniac like his classic comic book counterpart or the ripped badass form the Ultimate Universe (hell, they could even try out the whole Superior Spider-Man thing somewhere down the line if they wanted). The fact is, the Osborns being an overarching threat in the new Spider-Man franchise is unlikely because of the way they were used in the last five movies, so having Doctor Octopus take on that sort of role has a ton of potential.
