20 Marvel Characters Who Must Be Introduced In Phase 3
8. Thor
Yes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe already has a Thor, but with Chris Hemsworth's contract about to come to an end, why not shake the God of Thunder's franchise up in a major way? Of course, seeing as the Australian actor hasn't had much luck away from Marvel, there's a good chance he won't want to give up Mjolnir just yet, but if Thor does fall in Avengers: Infinity War, bring on the female version ASAP. Regardless of whether or not Jane Foster is beneath the helmet as in the comics (unlikely seeing as Natalie Portman reportedly isn't too keen to reprise the role), very briefly showing a woman's hand picking up Mjolnir at the end of Infinity War would be an exciting way of teasing a new direction for the character in Phase 4, and gives the studio another female led franchise to go with Captain Marvel. Kevin Feige has talked in the past about treating their characters like James Bond when it comes to recasting, but why not try something this different with Thor? She's certainly proved to be a hit with comic book fans thus far anyway, and her brief introduction near the end of Phase 3 would bring even more diversity into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and could just be what the hit and miss Thor franchise so desperately needs.
