20 Marvel Characters Who Must Be Introduced In Phase 3

17. J. Jonah Jameson

The fact that J. Jonah Jameson was left out of The Amazing Spider-Man movies is unforgivable, and Marvel needs to avoid making the same mistake when they bring Peter Parker and his supporting cast into the Marvel Cinematic Universe; the editor of The Daily Bugle has the potential to be someone who can have an impact throughout the whole of Phase 3. Recent comic books portrayed the Spidey hating JJJ as the Mayor of New York City, and while there's definitely fun to be had there, him deciding to target The Avengers for bringing Spider-Man into their ranks could also work, and there's actually precedent for that in the source material following the hero's inclusion in the ranks of the New Avengers. There's no getting around the fact that J.K. Simmons is a tough act to follow of course, and even if The Daily Bugle doesn't have much of an impact outside of Spider-Man's movies, it's still essential that we see another version of Jonah and fan-favourites like Robbie Robertson and Betty Brant (who would actually make a great new love interest for Peter considering we've already had Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy in the previous movies).
