20 Mind-Blowing Facts About George A. Romero’s Living Dead Movies

9. Bub Is A Stephen King Reader

Day of the Dead’s sentient zombie Bub (Howard Sherman) might not be that handy with a toothbrush or razor but he’s still pretty human when it comes to the things that count – he’s polite to his Aunt Alicia, he enjoys the music of Beethoven and he’s into horror writer Stephen King.

Look closely in the scene where Dr Logan is trying to convince his bunker mates that the undead can be rehabilitated and you’ll see Bub particularly engrossed in a copy of King’s vampire horror Salem’s Lot. In hindsight, a book about fellow flesh-hungry monsters probably wasn’t the wisest of reading choices to give a recently rehabilitated zombie.
