20 Mind-Blowing Facts About George A. Romero’s Living Dead Movies
4. Night Of The Living Dead Traumatised Children
Hitting cinemas just one month before the Motion Picture
Association of America established its new film rating system, Night of the
Living Dead was released unrated which meant that anyone – even small,
impressionable, easily frightened kids – could go see it.
Film critic Roger Ebert was so concerned that he forgot to review the movie and spent most of his Chicago Sun-Times column detailing the reaction of the terrified children in the audience and chastising their parents and censor boards while Variety magazine called it “pornography of violence”.
Of course, kids these days probably wouldn’t bat an eyelash at Night of the Living Dead but they were simpler times back then you see.
