6. Grand Moff Tarkin Spent A Lot Of Time Wearing Slippers
The stern face of Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin is surely one of the most threatening images in all of Star Wars. The legendary actor's cold, skeletal gaze dominates the film (no wonder Domhnall Gleeson, who plays the similar General Hux, went for a different angle in The Force Awakens). What you probably didn't know, however, is that many of Cushing's facial expressions were caused by immense pain. During filming, Cushing was given boots that were far too small, and were extremely uncomfortable to wear. The boots were so bad, in fact, that he only wore them during scenes in which his feet were visible. In close-up shots, Cushing is actually wearing a comfy pair of slippers.
