20 Mind-Blowing Facts About The Dark Knight Trilogy

9. The Scarecrow Was Supposed To Appear In Batman Triumphant

Batman Begins shares a odd similarity to Batman And Robin's planned/aborted sequel. In Joel Schumacher's Batman Triumphant, Scarecrow was set to be one of the lead villains, with Nicolas Cage reportedly the studio's top choice to take on the role filled by Cillian Murphy in The Dark Knight Trilogy. Joining him would have been Harley Quinn (The Joker's daughter in this instance), rumoured to be played by Madonna. Joel Schumacher has since said that Scarecrow's fear gas would have resurrected Jack Nicholson's Joker, and, however bad the movie might have been, that would have been interesting to see! Even so, Nolan's take on Scarecrow was undoubtedly vastly superior.
