Horror sequels have a tendency to be released in rapid succession. Many entries in Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A Nightmare on Elm Street were released one year after their predecessor.

But the Saw series managed to set a world record in this department. It is the first franchise in history to release seven films consecutively over seven years; a record that still stands to this very day. The record was originally held by the Police Academy series, which released six films back-to-back.

Interestingly, the Saw franchises could've released eight consecutive films since Saw 3D was meant to be split into two separate movies. But after Saw VI made less money than expected, the studio decided to make Saw 3D the final entry in the franchise... at the time.
