20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Pixar
16. Brad Bird Did The Voice Of Edna Mode
Edna Mode is a pretty incredible animated character from The Incredibles with a really distinct voice. A voice belongs to none other than director Brad Bird.
Bird, director of The Incredibles, did the voice of Edna in temporary versions of the film, intended to just be a placeholder until they did the official recordings. Pixar had actually hired Lily Tomlin to provide Edna's voice, and when recording she kept asking Bird to read the line again for her. As she listened to him she said, "I think you kind of got a beat on it, maybe you should just do it."
And so he did, creating one of the most iconic and unique voices in the Pixar library. Just think that the high profile director of Tomorrowland once sat in a recording studio doing the Edna Mode voice for hours at a time. That's a hilarious image.
