20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Terminator Franchise

15. OJ Simpson Could Have Been The Terminator, But He Was Deemed Too Nice

As with Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, Cameron and team scouted far and wide to find the right person to play the Terminator. Kevin Kline, Michael Douglas and Sylvester Stallone were at one point all being looked at, while Tom Selleck's commitment to Magnum PI meant he couldn't accept an offer made to him. Meanwhile Mel Gibson, who was also considered for Kyle Reese, declined the chance to play the T-800. Another came much closer: OJ Simpson, the former American football player who at the time had been attempting to break into movies. A mock-up movie poster was even created with Simpson as the T-800, but producers eventually decided to pass when they felt he was simply "too nice" to play a cold, calculating murderer. And that's all that needs to be said about that.
