16. Sting Was Offered The Role Of Kyle Reese
Before Michael Biehn landed the gig, some interesting names were considered for the part of Kyle Reese. These included obvious 1980s hard-man types like Kurt Russell, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Scott Glenn and Tommy Lee Jones. On top of those, Bruce Springsteen was also in the running - The Terminator would have been his big-screen debut, but his schedule was deemed too tight to fit in with filming. Sticking with the music world, however, Police frontman Sting was a serious consideration; so serious that an offer of $350,000 was made to entice him. Fortunately for Michael Biehn, The Police had a world tour coming up that would clash with filming on The Terminator, while Sting also had a starring role in Dune on his plate already. Biehn, who failed his first audition and had to be called back for a second, was the one who ultimately got the part.
